Unplugged Collection
As I’m navigating this self-discovery journey, I’ve come to realize a deeper understanding of the intricacies of human behaviors. I find myself drawn to the concept of people-pleasing and the masks we often wear in our social interactions.
Now our social interactions have extended beyond physical gatherings to the digital realm, where we spend a significant portion of our time.
Consequently, our insecurities and tendencies to seek validation have also permeated into the online sphere. It’s like we are carrying around our fakeness in our pockets. And unlike traditional settings, this façade is now accessible at our fingertips, blurring the lines between authenticity and pretense.
But it seems like we did find a savior of our authenticity! Memes!
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, why do I feel like I relate to every insecure meme at all? It's like they have a direct line to my inner monologue!”
Memes, often laced with sarcasm and undoubtedly the most relatable content on the internet today, have a remarkable ability to shed light on the facade we present to the world.
They serve as a mirror, breaking down the walls around us with humor, reflecting back our concealed insecurities and pretenses.
It's intriguing how a simple meme can unveil these hidden truths.
It's akin to deciphering encrypted messages.
Just seamlessly offering a key to unlocking insights into our true selves with a fresh perspective. Right when you are doom scrolling!
These little notes have helped me understand how disconnected I’ve felt from myself. No matter what part of the world I am in, it got me thinking that I could not just turn on a switch and experience things around me just as they are. Because there’s always something else going on in my mind palace.
I have watched some beautiful sunsets, clicked pictures, came back home and tried to paint them, tried to recreate their colors but it would also bring back the thoughts. The thoughts that were floating around in my head when I was watching the sunset. And these voices did not exactly reflect the same energy as the sunset.
In the series Unplugged, my aim is to represent our lives *my life* and shine a bright blinding light on how disconnected our inner landscapes can be from the outer world.
Well, disconnected only until you find the key to decode your inner monologue. And I have always been a math nerd, so it has to be through an actual encoding. Surprise!
The pieces in this collection are going to be fun, cryptic, gorgeous and might just explain a few things about you or someone else around you. Or maybe you’ll just fall in love with numbers. *counts as a win*
I hope you have fun!
